Karen and Bob

 

Bio: Karen Cate is originally from Reidsville, NC. She was raised attending a small Methodist church in rural North Carolina. She received the Lord Jesus as Savior at the age of twelve. She has been actively involved in ministry since her teenage years. From 15 to 19 years of age, she was actively involved in the Lay Witness program of the United Methodist Church. While in college, she helped operate two coffee house ministries: Shekinah House and Genesis II. She has been actively involved in church music from childhood. Her first official position was as choir director of both the adult and youth choirs at her home church. Since then she has served as a praise and worship team member and worship leader at various other churches in North Carolina, Alabama, Tennessee and Florida. From 1993-1996 she served as drama and worship director at Hosanna Christian Academy in Cleveland, Tennessee.

       
From 1999 until 2010, Karen Cate served as chairman of the Malachi Project, a non-profit Christian Service organization headquartered in Cleveland TN. As chairman she and her husband Bob helped found Havenplace Community Youth Center (havenplace.info) a non-profit outreach to the at risk youth and young adults of Cleveland, TN. She is a licensed minister with Redemption Ministerial Fellowship International a ministry of Redemption World Outreach Center in Greenville, SC. She has a Master's degree in Church Music from Lee University. She writes worship music and is a published songwriter with Spirit Sound Music. She has released 2 worship CDs: Quiet Places in 2001 and Still Worthy in 2005.

She and her husband of 36 years, Bob, reside in Perry, FL. She currently leads the Taylor County Prayer Initiative which meets the 1st and 3rd Mondays of each month at 11 AM to pray for the

Bio: Bob Cate was raised as a pastor's son in SC and Georgia. He received Christ as his Savior while his father was pastoring First Baptist Church in Aiken, SC. His father Robert L. Cate also served as dean of Old Testament at Golden Gate Seminary and Professor of Old Testament Studies at the University of Oklahoma. Bob graduated from NCSU with a degree in Pulp & Paper Science in 1978.  He has served in that industry for the last 33 years. Bob Cate is currently employed as Technology Plant Manager with Foley Cellulose s division of Georgia Pacific Corp., Foley Florida. In addition to his professional career, Bob has been involved in prison ministry, children's and youth ministries throughout his life including Awana, Royal Ambassadors and Training Union. He served as children's pastor at Living Word Fellowship in Cleveland, TN and as leader of a Promise Keepers group in Cleveland for more than 6 years.
From 1999-2010, Bob served on the board of directors of the Malachi Project, which he helped to found.  In addition, Bob has been actively involved with United Way. He served on the United Way board in Cleveland, TN and is now actively involved in fund raising for United Way in Taylor County Florida. He continues to strive to bring Christian excellence into the work place. As a faithful servant of Christ, Bob teaches and ministers to men in areas of successful fathering, excellence in business and integrity in everyday life. Bob and Karen have two sons and four grandchildren. They are active in church and Karen is serving in outreach, prayer and nursing home ministry in their hometown of Perry, Florida where they attend Cornerstone Church.
